Caredogs improve life
Caredog teams which have been trained by the Caredog School assist in the care of patients with dementia and with rehabilitation of both children and adults. The contact with a caredog improves motivation for life, gives better concentration and increased sense of wellbeing. The work of the professional staff becomes more effective. Positive results from the use of caredogs is described by physical therapists, doctors and occupational therapists. Especially noteworthy is a decreased use of tranquilizers.
The caredogs are systematically chosen and trained. Their good effects stem from the fact that we train both caredog teams, and professional staff. We also give support to the units in developing routines and regulations for the use of a caredog - routines concerning hygiene, allergy control, where and how the caredog is allowed etc.
A summary of our work is offered in the folder "Dogs by Prescription". Please download!

Ingeborg Höök, training manager
I am happy that more and more counties now start using caredogs. The caredogs perform "everyday miracles", as told by by physical therapists, doctors, arbetsterapeuter and nurses. Patients who have been very difficult to motivate for rehab, or for life now take part with joy.
